Turkey is the latest nation trying to tempt UK holidaymakers once coronavirus travel restrictions are eased.
The eastern mediterranean country intends to welcome tourists again by June as increases its rollout of the Covid vaccine.
According to Turkish media, its government has already been involved in negotiations with UK ministers ahead of a potential June resumption of holidays.
Turkey has introduced a Safe Tourism Certification Programme, which includes safety and hygiene measures, designed to control infection that was introduced earlier last year. Its vaccination rollout has so far seen more than 8.45million jabs administered, using shots developed by China’s Sinovac Biotech.
There has been a surge in bookings to Turkish holiday spots with the country offering some of the best value for money in resort for British tourists.
Erkan Yagci, head of the Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers’ Association, claims having measures already in place will have a positive impact on tourism this summer.
Meanwhile, the country's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Turkey would begin a gradual return to normal life on a provincial basis this month with nationwide weekend lockdowns expected to be lifted in some provinces based on infection rates.
Greece and Turkey are expected to be among the most popular destinations for holidaymakers when the UK Government travel ban is lifted.
The Greek government has stated it will accept tourists which have either been given the Covid jab or taken a negative test.
It has said it will introduce special facilities at airports for visitors who have received the vaccine to avoid lengthy queues.
