Ankara was quick to ease concerns that it was imposing visa restrictions on Lebanese travelers after Beirut stopped the import of certain Turkish products.
The Turkish embassy in Lebanon stressed that no changes have been imposed on Lebanese travelers.
Holders of diplomatic, official or personal passports will continue to enjoy visa-free travel to Turkey, it said in a statement.
The Lebanese government had on May 16 taken a decision to bar the import of Turkish wafers, biscuits, cleaning products and bulgar.
It also imposed restrictions on the import of paper, carton and ready-to-wear clothes from Turkey.
The move sparked concern among the Lebanese people, who have turned to Turkey as a tourist destination.
Large and small business owners have also expressed fear of the government’s move because Turkey is a prime trade destination due to low prices.
The ban and restrictions will take effect in July. They will affect only 3 percent of imports from Turkey that are estimated at 750 million dollars.
