Demonstrations that started last Monday as a small protest to save an Istanbul park, have escalated into the largest and most violent anti-government protest that Turkey has seen in years. The protests have now spread across the country to half of its 81 provinces.

If you happen to be where the protests are, we'd like to find out what's happening to you and the people around you. Please share your eyewitness accounts – images or video – via GuardianWitness or let us know any new information, that will help us document the situation, in the comments below.

Though we'd like to hear from you, your security is most important. We recognise it may not always be safe to record or share your experiences – so please think about this when sending your content to GuardianWitness.

  • GuardianWitness is the home of user-generated content on the Guardian. Contribute your video, pictures and stories, and browse news, reviews and creations submitted by others. Posts will be reviewed prior to publication on GuardianWitness, and the best pieces will feature on the Guardian site.
