At least 38 people have died and dozens more are trapped after two avalanches struck on a Turkish mountain, within days of each other.
Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Authority said 33 people died when a second avalanche struck while rescuers were searching for victims of a first avalanche, which had killed five people.
Officials said there are 300 rescue workers at the site near the eastern border with Iran.
More than 50 people are believed to be trapped in their vehicles in the area after Wednesday's avalanche.
Pictures from the scene show people being stretchered to safety through the snow.
Rescuers used shovels and sticks in high winds and heavy snowfall to dig out vehicles that had been buried.
The Turkish media is reporting that police officers, security guards, a firefighter and residents are among the dead as the search and rescue operation continues.
The death toll could rise, it is feared.
Soldiers and residents from a nearby town have joined the rescue efforts, which have been hindered by snow and fog.
Two people are still missing after Tuesday's avalanche, which buried a minibus and a vehicle which had been used to clear snow.
A construction worker managed to escape and raise the alarm.
Osman Ucar, head of the Turkey Disaster and Emergency Authority's Van office, said he was hospitalised after being caught in the avalanche.
"I was halfway buried in snow," he said. "I got out by my own means."
Interior minister Suleyman Soylu said conditions on the area had made it difficult for rescue vehicles to operate. A vehicle had been pulled out from under 16 feet of snow.
