Turbine blade bigger than Cineworld given police escort through Glasgow

Yesterday saw Glasgow play host to the very rare and unusual sight of Harry Potter's famous Hogwarts Express train as scores turned out to witness it steam through Drumchapel and Westerton.

And earlier today drivers in the city were treated to the equally unusual - if less impressive - sight of a 65-metre-long wind turbine blade being escorted by police.

The blade, the UK's largest land based blade, was being escorted from the King George V Dock in Govan to Crossdykes Windfarm in Lockerbie some 75 miles away down the M74.

It will form part of a 10-turbine onshore windfarm which will generate enough electricity to power nearly 45,000 homes in the local area.

Anyone spot it this morning on their travels?
