Tunnock’s tiger created from tea cake wrappers by Fife-born sculptor unveiled at art exhibition

Many of us who have ever eaten a Tunnock’s tea cake will have carefully smoothed out and folded the foil to create our own little art sculpture before chucking it in the bin, thinking nothing more of it.

But one Scottish artist has shown what you can do with not one but a few hundred wrappers.

Fife-born David Mach has created a tiger using the foil packaging and it’s been unveiled at a prestigious art exhibition featuring work by the likes of Greyson Perry.

Mach built the life sized creature, named ‘Easy Tiger’, inspired by the design of the wrappers and it’s now on display at the Royal Academy Summer Show in London.

The foil has been carefully cut to mimic the stripes and fur texture of a real tiger and it’s gone down a storm on Twitter.

Many have praised Mach for the remarkable feat, admitting it to be much better than their own humble efforts.

Now the question is: did he really eat all the tea cakes himself or did he have helpers?

The news comes just days after it was revealed Tunnock's tea cake inventor Boyd Tunnock is set to be knighted for his services to the confectionery business.
