Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Cup draw descends into farce as clubs left in the dark by botched broadcast

A tournament named the Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup surely requires no further incentive to invite sniggers.

But the fourth-round draw, conducted from a table designed to look like, of course, a giant Caramel Wafer, descended into a bit of a farce on Tuesday.

Supporters and, as it happens, clubs themselves tuned into the SPFL's "live" YouTube broadcast to find out who they'd face in the last 16.

But fans of Arbroath , Elgin City, Glenavon, Partick Thistle, Raith Rovers, Airdrie, Connah's Quay or Clyde were left scratching their heads by an apparent technical issue with the broadcast.

The online feed joined our host Neil Doncaster halfway through the draw - which also featured Hibs captain David Gray - and ensured 50 per cent of the participants were firmly in the dark over who they'd face next.

Clyde were first to react to being omitted, putting it bluntly: "We're currently awaiting the outcome of the 'live' Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Cup draw, as we didn't feature on the broadcast..."

They certainly weren't alone, either.

Arbroath also chimed in - and it's clear Elgin felt the same.

The SPFL quickly put an end to the confusion by posting the full draw on Twitter, which you can see below.

The draw in full

Arbroath vs Clyde

Raith Rovers vs Glenavon

Partick Thistle vs Connah's Quay Nomads
