Tunnel melee breaks out between Kilcoo and Corofin during heated All-Ireland club football final

Corofin are All-Ireland champions for the third year in a row but they were made to work hard for it in a tense battle with Kilcoo.

Things got heated between both sets of players on several occasions throughout the game and both sides were reduced to 14 men.

It all threatened to boil over just before extra-time when a fracas broke out in the tunnel.

TG4 cameras captured the altercation that led to the incident and one substitute even hopped down into the tunnel to get involved.

Boos rang out around Croke Park just before extra-time while things turned a little ugly on the field.

Referee Conor Lane allowed 12 minutes of additional time which angered Corofin supporters - seemingly due to stoppages during the five minutes which were originally indicated.

Kilcoo searched for a leveller and as they went forward, Corofin committed obvious fouls to stop their advance.

That tactic worked against them when Darragh Silke brought down Daryl Branagan, allowing Kilcoo's star marksman Paul Devlin to swing over the equaliser.

But despite the Down side's heroic late rally, Corofin showed their class in extra-time to seal their historic feat.

Conor Cunningham's goal put the result beyond all doubt.
