Tunisian President Kais Saied announced plans to submit a draft law for forming an institution tasked primarily with dealing with the affairs of the families of victims of terrorist attacks from the security and military establishments.

This presidential initiative recognizes those who have been martyred or injured by the wound as in service and entitled to salaries, grants and professional promotions.

Saied had chaired, on Sunday at the barracks of the Directorate-General of the Presidential Guard in Gammarth, the commemoration of the 4th anniversary since the martyrdom of 12 presidential guards in a terrorist attack that targeted their bus in the capital on November 24, 2015.

The President saluted the flag and laid a wreath at the memorial plaque of martyrs of the presidential guards. The commemoration ceremony was attended by the victims’ families and the wounded of this attack.

Saied awarded the medal of “Loyalty and Sacrifice” of First Class to the families of the 12 presidential guards and asked about their situation and their children’s.

In his address at the commemoration ceremony, the Head of State stressed the significant role fulfilled by security forces in “confronting crime and terrorism, who think only of victory or martyrdom” adding that “we do not have any other choice but to eliminate those who use arms against us.”

“The fight against terrorism is a fight for the survival of the entire nation," he said, adding that "the main threat to people is not coming from enemies trying to sneak across borders but from traitors."

The commemoration ceremony was also attended by members of the President’s office, senior officials of the presidential guard as well as representatives of regional and local authorities and national personalities.
