Tunisia's Prime Minister Youssef Chahed kicked off on Monday an official visit to France at the request of newly-elected President Kais Saied.

The Tunisian presidency announced Monday that the PM will visit Paris to convey a message to French President Emmanuel Macron.

Chahed will also participate in Paris Peace Forum on November 12 and 13.

He will then head to Italy in his capacity as a special envoy for the president to deliver a written letter to Italian President Sergio Mattarella on bilateral ties, the presidency said.

This is the second time Saied assigns Chahed for a visit. Last Thursday, he visited Algeria and met Interim President Abdul Qader Saleh.

France is Tunisia's top strategic commercial partner and key source of foreign investment.
