The People's Movement in Tunisia has defended the ruling coalition, saying the government has successfully faced exceptional economic and social conditions.
The Movement, part of the ruling coalition, criticized calls made on social media for “ousting the government,” describing them as “meaningless.”
It also denounced Ennahda Movement's stance from the political situation.
Ennahda has urged to refrain from practices and statements that stir disputes and impair the state’s efforts in curbing the COVID-19 outbreak, and achieving economic and social stability.
It further decried suspicious campaigns calling for chaos and targeting the parliament and its speaker.
Secretary-General of the People's Movement Zuhair al-Maghazawi stated that Ennahda has been showing double standards since joining the ruling coalition, while it presides an opposition coalition through which it pressures the government and criticizes its moves.
The recent criticism on social media targeted Elyes Fakhfakh’s government, which was accused of failure to manage the social crisis.
Many Tunisian officials were slammed by social media activists who called for a “corrective revolution” and the establishment of a national rescue authority.
Petitioners called for peaceful protests to denounce corruption and propose alternatives.
