Nidaa Tounes spokesperson Munji Herbawi revealed that there are ongoing political consultations to form a national coalition for rescue, adding that this political front has become more than a national duty – it has become a must to overcome political disputes.
Herbawi said that these consultations consisted of political parties regardless of their ideologies, amid the political crisis resulting from the cessation of consultations regarding the fate of the national unity, led by Youssef Chahed since around a year and nine months.
He added that the mission of the national coalition is represented in combating social and economic crises in Tunisia.
Herbawi criticized the current condition, saying that the government is no more a national unity government but has become a government of Ennahda Movement, in a hint on the huge support that the government is receiving from the movement. Ennahda Movement official Abdelhamid Jlassi stated that Nidaa Tounes is responsible for the crisis and is after a scapegoat that might be found in Youssef Chahed.
The latest appointments published in the official gazette fall under a plan to regain control over the state, at a time when the country is suffering a continuous collapse in the economic and social conditions, which indicates that the mission of the national coalition will be to face these crises in the first place.
Nidaa Tounes, Tunisian General Labour Union and Free Patriotic Union support a radical change in the formation of Chahed government including changing the prime minister. Ennahda Movement, however, insists on maintaining the current government but inserting partial amendments on its formation in order to achieve political stability.
Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) and UTAP endorse the standpoint of Ennahda Movement.
