Amid the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths, Tunisian authorities decided on Monday to impose tough fines on violators of the 7pm to 5am curfew.
Authorities will seize the driver's license of a violator for seven days, while stricter measures will be imposed on additional traffic abuses.
Last week, the National Committee to Combat the Coronavirus announced a set of measures intended to curb the spread of the coronavirus, including the suspension of classes in all primary, middle and high schools and a ban of vehicle movement from 7 pm to 5 am, while maintaining a curfew from 10 pm to 5 am.
Tunisia recorded 1,514 new cases of the coronavirus and 66 deaths in 24 hours. A statement by the health ministry said the total number of cases in the country reached 285,490, while deaths reached 9,783.
On Monday, the Ministry said 225,900 people have been administered the coronavirus vaccine since the launch of the national drive on March 13.
It said 10,118 people were vaccinated on Sunday and 33,019 have already received their second shot.
More than 1 million persons have already registered to receive the jab.
