A number of tumble dryers have been the subject of urgent recalls due to potential fire hazards.
Appliance owners are advised to disconnect the devices from the power source and stop using them right away.
A manufacturing flaw found in numerous Hoover and Candy appliances may result in internal short circuits, which might start fires, according to Argos.
Certain heat pump and condenser dryer models manufactured since January 2019 are impacted.
Two Candy integrated heat pump dryers, catalogue numbers 9203561 and 8789842, are among them.
Additionally impacted are four Hoover versions: one in black (8732552) and three combined heat pump units in white (9072905, 7666258, and 8175528).
A technical problem involving “inconsistency in the production” process that causes electrical problems has been detected by Haier Europe, the company that owns Hoover and Candy.

Despite claiming that there is a “rare” chance of a fire, the manufacturer has decided to recall the devices in order to protect consumers.
Qualified engineers will visit households who own one of the dryers and make free safety adjustments.
You can enter the serial number on Haier's product safety website to see if your appliance has to be modified.
Customers impacted by the message have received an apology from Argos, which has also highlighted that no other Haier, Hoover, or Candy items it offers are impacted.
Argos said in a statement: “We take the safety of our products extremely seriously and would like to apologise to customers affected for any inconvenience this may cause. No other Haier, Hoover or Candy products sold by Argos are affected by this product safety notice.”
This safety advisory is an extension of a previous recall that was first notified on June 3, 2025, and initially only affected two models. The manufacturer rated the short circuit risk as “low risk” at the time of the June notice, but it had already been detected.
Customers should contact the dedicated website at https://productsafety.haier.co.uk if they need to schedule an engineer visit or want further information.
Even though Haier Europe says fire incidents happen “on rare occasions” the business has made consumer safety a top priority by starting the extensive recall program.
