Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, now heading the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), has quietly launched her Director’s Initiative Group (DIG)—ostensibly to “restore trust” in the intelligence community.
According to reports, the group has been poking around in 2020 and 2022 voting records, but oddly appears to have taken a casual shrug toward 2024 irregularities. Meanwhile, Kari Lake has pumped this into the echo chamber via X, suggesting Gabbard’s DIG is now conducting full-blown investigations into past elections.
Lake’s X post fuels conspiracy echo chamber
I’m thrilled to hear that @DNIGabbard’s DIG group will be examining BOTH the 2020 and 2022 elections.

I did everything in my power to expose our rotten elections, and I would love nothing more than to see transparency and accountability. https://t.co/EZ7du5BoLT
Lake, still peddling the “election was stolen” narrative, shared a Just the News article claiming that DIG would investigate the 2020 and 2022 elections. Lake’s track record on election-fraud conspiracies is well-worn: she amplified baseless, QAnon-tinged claims, demanded the seizure of voting machines, and called for endless audits—even after every recount confirmed nothing was stolen.
So when she amplifies an untrustworthy outlet like Just the News, it’s less “newsflash” than “old playback.” Her credulous take on the report reflects that she genuinely believes those stolen-election myths, proof that her fantasy world hasn’t changed since November 2020.
What we know (and don’t know) about Gabbard’s DIG
EXCLUSIVE: Tulsi Gabbard's special team has expressed interest in gaining access to emails and chat logs of the largest U.S. spy agencies to root out “weaponization,” according to multiple people familiar. By @nakashimae @wstrobel & Aaron Schaffer https://t.co/mVGHmy3CdG

Official ODNI releases—including the announcement of DIG in April 2025—focus on rooting out “weaponization” and promoting transparency, not launching election patrols. And while The Washington Post reporting notes DIG’s interest in classified email logs and AI-based investigation tools, there’s zero mention in any formal statement about specifically investigating elections. That seems like a major oversight for Lake, but a huge relief for fact-checkers everywhere.
Rockland County shines a spotlight on 2024
#BREAKING: The Rockland County, NY election interference case has moved forward. As far as election “irregularities,” the lawsuit in Rockland County, New York, is probably the most concrete example of 2024 ballots under legal review. SMART Legislation filed claims of statistical anomalies and alleged missing votes, most notably zero ballots for Kamala Harris in precincts where hundreds voted for Senator Gillibrand.
Officials and election data experts have speculated that the “irregularities” are likely due to Orthodox Jewish “bloc voting,” not fraud. Still, a judge allowed discovery—which could lead to a hand recount—so the case is moving forward with a court date set for September 22, 2025.
Despite Lake’s post and Just the News’ so-called reporting, Gabbard’s DNI can’t credibly be labeled the election fraud cop. Digging into intelligence abuse is one thing; investigating stolen elections is another, and there’s zero official confirmation that DIG is investigating 2020, 2022, or even 2024 ballots.
Lake reposting a smear from Just the News? Predictable—and telling about where her head is. Rockland County’s lawsuit is the only legitimate 2024 case—one deeply tangled in bloc voting rather than slick conspiracy.
So yes, Gabbard’s DIG is doing something. But unless they issue a press release saying “we’re investigating how the 2020 vote count was rigged,” this is one conspiracy theory that refuses to die.
