Tulsa RB thinks 200 rushing yards against MSU is a ‘reasonable’ goal

Tulsa’s starting running back Corey Taylor II had a very interesting response when asked about his goals for the upcoming game against Michigan State:

“With the offensive line that we have, those are great guys, so 100 yards apiece (for Taylor and fellow junior tailback Shamari Brooks), at least, and five (yards) per carry is pretty reasonable,” he said.

Hey, I’m not going to be one to call down a curse just days before the season opener, so I’ll just continue to refer to Tulsa running back Corey Taylor’s recent comments as “interesting.” It would be extremely interesting if Taylor and Tulsa could put up 200 yards rushing against the top rushing defense in the NCAA.

At least Tulsa coach Philip Montgomery is keeping things in perspective for his team heading into the matchup with the Spartans:

“They don’t give you anything, you’re going to have to earn every yard,” Montgomery said. “You can see (a blocker) have his hands in great position, got his body in the right spot, and all of a sudden, you see (an MSU defensive player) just pop away from it and make the tackle.”

Michigan State is currently a 22.5-point favorite by Bovada.
