Tulsa King: Dana Delany joins Sylvester Stallone in cast for new Paramount+ series

Dana Delany will be joining Sylvester Stallone in a new Paramount+ series Tulsa King.

The series, which is released in November, follows the story of Dwight ‘The General’ Manfredi, played by Stallone, after he is released from prison. He is sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma by his boss, and starts to build a new criminal empire.

According to Deadline, Delany – whose credits include Desperate Housewives, Body of Proof and Hand of God – will play the rich and influential Margaret, who owns a horse farm.

The series has a heavy-weight team behind it: Tulsa King has been written and produced by Terence Winter, who did the same for The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire. Highly acclaimed producer Taylor Sheridan, whose projects also include Yellowstone and 1883, is also on the Paramount+ show.

Also joining Delany and Stallone in the cast are Domenick Lombardozzi (The Irishman), Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire), Jay Will (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Garrett Hedlund (The United States vs. Billie Holiday), Andrea Savage (I’m Sorry), Martin Starr (Silicon Valley), Max Casella (The Tender Bar) and AC Peterson (Superman & Lois).

Last week, Paramount released the trailer for the new series, and it has already garnered over three million views.

“When I was 17 I wanted to be a gangster,” says Stallone’s character. “I married this life. And now, after keeping my mouth shut, I’m going to see if it married me back.”

Stallone, 75, is best known for his role as boxer Rocky Balboa in the long-running Rocky series, and as soldier John Rambo in five Rambo films that were made over four decades

At a premiere in London on Monday, the Golden Globe-winning and Oscar-nominated actor explained why Rocky won’t be starring in the third instalment of sports drama Creed.

“Well it’s different because actually I bowed out of that one, I just didn’t know if there was any part for me,” said Stallone to Metro. “It takes it in a different direction. I wish them well and keep punching!”

Delany, 66, has appeared in television series including Pasadena, Presidio Med and Kidnapped. The actor, who won two Primetime Emmy awards around the turn of the 1990s for her role in US drama China Beach, has also voiced Lois Lane in Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, as well as Andrea Beaumont in Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

Although excitement about the new gangster series is building, there is still a long time to wait, as the first two episodes of Tulsa King will drop on November 13.
