A man in his 40s was killed in a suspected stabbing at flats in Belfast on Thursday night.
Police maintained a large presence at flats off King’s Road in Tullycarnet in the east of the city.
Emergency services arrived on the scene after 8.15pm and police were expected to remain there overnight.
A forensics tent was erected in an alleyway between the flats.
MLA Joanne Bunting told Belfast Live that the incident will rock a “settled community”.
She said: “It’s a shocking development. This kind of thing doesn’t happen in Tullycarnet.
“It’s a very settled community. There’s a strong community network, lots of amenities and they work really well together so obviously this will come as a massive shock.
“Police will be carrying out their enquiries and I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward.”
A PSNI spokesman said: "Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at Kings Road, east Belfast this evening (Thursday 17th October).
"Enquiries are continuing and there are no further details at this stage."
