Tulip sausage factory to create over 120 new jobs as it reopens Wirral site

A meat processing firm has said it plans to reopen its Wirral site this month, and will create over 120 jobs for the local area.

Tulip says it will reopen its Bromborough sausage factory at the same time it launches a recruitment drive for various roles across operational positions, including engineering and technical apprenticeships.

The plans have been supported with a £15m investment introducing state-of-the-art food manufacturing technology and equipment as it looks to become a centre of excellence for the UK's fresh pork manufacturing.

CEO Andrew Cracknell said: “The re-opening of our site in Bromborough, which comes with significant capital investment and job creation, is great news for our business, the local community and our customers."

Julian Weeks has been appointed to the position of site director at Tulip Bromborough, and Mr Cracknell added: “Julian’s track record within the business and across the wider industry speaks for itself and his commercial insight and integrity will help to drive a real culture of ownership and accountability as we look to build a business based on solid, customer-centric foundations.”

Tulip said operations will initially focus on the production of higher welfare, Red Tractor and EU fresh pork for retail customers, with scope for further growth and expansion in the future.

Reporting into retail operations director Shaun Kay, Mr Weeks moves into his new role having spent 10 years within the retail side of the organisation, most recently as customer director.

His successor will be announced in due course.

Mr Weeks said: “I am very much looking forward to this new challenge and building a high-performing team as we work to establish Bromborough as a true centre of excellence.

"We are looking for smart, hard-working and enthusiastic individuals to join our team, in order to support initial production volumes with operations commencing in August.”
