Can the Tulane run defense handle the Army running game?
It’s a rested team with a coaching staff that knows exactly what goes into dealing with a triple-option attack – head coach Willie Fritz is brilliant at running the attack. His offense, though, is more diverse, and Army has to get ready for it.
The Knights are sharp, they’re great at making things happen behind the line, and they’re wonderful and dominating in turnover margin.
But this is a strong, sharp Tulane team, too.
The one big issue for the Green is their struggle on third downs. They’re just okay at it, and there’s the problem. Let Army control the clock and the game, and it has the battle won …

Again, the key here is Fritz and his staff. This is a smart, good Tulane defense that might have had problems against the Houston running game – giving up over 300 yards – but has had the time to prepare for what’s coming.
Army won’t be able to be Army. The ground game will be stopped just enough for Tulane to get by with a tough, good win.
