TUI update as it confirms 19 holiday destinations it will fly to from May 17

TUI has revealed that it will fly to 19 destinations from the UK after travel restrictions are lifted on May 17.

The tour operator's announcement comes after the UK Government last week shared further details on the rules for international travel.

Destinations will be categorised as either green, amber or red, with each category carrying a different set of restrictions - with notable differences including on quarantine rules, reports North Wales Live.

There are set to be more than 10 destinations classified as 'green' from May 17, though travel providers might not operate holidays to them all initially - and may still offer trips to 'amber' countries.

TUI has confirmed that it'll operate holidays "to a number of destinations" categorised as green and amber, including to popular locations like Tenerife and Crete.

The travel provider said it will operate holidays to the Algarve, Madeira and Porto Santo - all in Portugal - with the country currently set to be classified as 'green' on the UK Government's travel list. You can read some of the best deals from the major tour operators here.

Additionally, TUI revealed that "the following holidays categorised amber will operate as planned" as well:

  • Crete
  • Kos
  • Rhodes
  • Corfu
  • Zante
  • Malta
  • Lanzarote
  • Fuerteventura
  • Gran Canaria
  • Tenerife
  • La Palma
  • St Lucia
  • Antigua
  • Barbados
  • Grenada
  • Cuba

TUI will only be flying from a handful of airports between May 17 and 27, including Gatwick Airport, Birmingham Airport and Bristol Airport.

Customers affected by the latest cancellations will be "contacted directly" and they'll "be able to request a full cash refund, or to change to a later date or alternative holiday and receive a booking incentive".

TUI has extended its free changes policy to include bookings up to the end of October. Changes can be made through Manage My Booking, in a TUI store or by calling 0203 4512688 - though deadlines apply.

Passengers whose destination changes to 'amber' within 14 days of travel will be able to amend their booking up until the day before their scheduled departure.

The UK Government has stated that if conditions change in a country or territory, then it can be moved to a different coloured list - and this may even be without warning.

You can read the latest list, and the restrictions each colour brings, by visiting the UK Government website. More information about TUI's upcoming schedule and any cancellations can be found on its website.
