Tui issues update on testing travel rules after changes confirmed

Double-vaccinated travellers will no longer need to take a coronavirus test when arriving in the UK.

Grant Shapps confirmed post-arrival lateral flow tests will no longer be required as restrictions were "firmly placed in the past".

The changes will come into effect from 4am on February 11 - in time for the half-term holiday.

Mr Shapps said: "I can announce that passengers who do not qualify as fully vaccinated will no longer be required to do a day eight test after arrival, or indeed to self-isolate.

"They will still need to fill out a passenger locator form to demonstrate proof of a negative Covid test taken two days before they travel and they must still take a post-arrival PCR test.

"This is a proportionate system that moves us a step closer to normality while maintaining vital public health protections."

With that in mind, airline TUI has updated its travel guidance for returning to the UK before and after February 11, reports NottinghamshireLive.

If you're returning to England before 4am on February 11

Unvaccinated customers aged 18 and over returning to England need to take a test within the two days before their flight home departs. So, if your flight departs on a Friday, you can take your test any time on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, as long as you have your results confirmed in time for boarding.

Fully vaccinated customers and those aged 17 and under need to take an antigen (rapid flow) or PCR test within two days of arrival in England. This test must be booked with a private supplier (not NHS) before you travel home, and can be taken at any time after you land, as long as it's taken within two days of your return.

Testing requirements for unvaccinated customers aged 18 and over haven't changed.
