TUI issues latest update on coronavirus and cancelled holidays

Despite an unseasonal spell of sunshine in the UK many people will be concerned the coronavirus crisis will put paid to their summer holiday.

With lockdown restrictions being lifted in some parts of Europe, and rumours of similar changes here, tour operators are frequently updating their guidance for people who have already booked, or who are thinking about booking.

The latest to look at their guidance is TUI, who reviewed their advice on May 6.

With Boris Johnson set to address the nation on Sunday evening this guidance looks set to change again, especially if the Prime Minister addresses the issue of overseas travel.

This is the latest advice from TUI.

The following holidays have been cancelled:

  • TUI holidays travelling on or before June 11, 2020
  • Marella Cruises sailings on or before June 30, 2020 and all the following sailings: All sailings on Marella Celebration, sailings on Marella Discovery 2 up to 30 April 2021, sailings on Marella Dream up to May 4, 2021, Marella Discovery sailings in December 2020 and January 2021, Marella Explorer 2 sailings between May 5, 2021 to October 20, 2021, TUI River Cruises sailings travelling up until and including November 25, 2020

All other holidays are continuing to operate as planned and will be continuously reviewed.

If your holiday cannot go ahead as planned TUI will give you a refund credit for the full value of your holiday and a separate booking incentive of up to 20 percent. You will receive a separate email four weeks from your original departure date with all the relevant information, if you were due to cruise from July 1 onwards you’ll receive it by end the end of June.

If you can't accept a refund credit you can apply for a refund. TUI ask people only to contact them to apply for a refund when you've received your refund credit. You can call 0203 451 2868 between 9am and 7pm from Monday to Friday.

If you booked through a third party, you should contact them directly, as their conditions around changes and cancellations may differ.
