Tui cancels thousands more summer 2020 holidays

Tui has cancelled thousands more holidays due to coronavirus travel restrictions.

The firm had initially cancelled all trips until June 30, but now it has extended the suspension of all holidays up to July 10.

Affected customers are offered refunds or credit, including a further 20% discount, if they rearrange their package holiday.

The firm said in a statement: "Tui UK and Ireland today confirms that due to the ongoing travel restrictions all beach holidays up to and including 10 July will be cancelled.

"With so much uncertainty around when travel will be able to recommence, customers due to travel before the end of August have the opportunity to amend their holiday for free, so they don't have to pay until closer to their new departure date.

"We are constantly monitoring the situation and will start taking people on holiday again as soon as we are able to do so."

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has advised against all but essential international travel since March 17.

Major UK tour operators will not run trips until the FCO changes its position.

A 14-day quarantine policy for international arrivals began in the UK this week, creating a further hurdle for holidaymakers.
