Tui cancels more holidays to amber countries including Spain and Italy

Tui has cancelled more holidays to a number of red and amber destinations.

The Government has created a risk-based traffic light system with red, amber and green ratings for countries around the world. The ratings determine the quarantine and coronavirus testing requirements people face when returning to the UK.

Portugal was the only viable major tourist destination on the green list, but it has been put on the amber list.

Most popular holiday locations were already in the amber tier, such as Spain, France, Italy and Greece.

Seven other countries - Sri Lanka, Egypt, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Costa Rica, Sudan, and Trinidad and Tobago - have been added to the red list.

Due to 'uncertainty', Tui has made the decision to cancel several holidays.

They said all customers will be contacted as soon as possible if there is any change to their booking.

Tui said: "All customers impacted by these cancellations will be contacted directly and will be able to request a full cash refund, or to change to a later date or alternative holiday and receive a booking incentive.

"If we need to cancel any future holidays because of updated Government guidance, we will be in touch directly and aim to give customers at least seven days’ notice.

"We would like to thank our customers for their understanding at this time."
