TUI cancels more flights through November to La Palma as volcanic eruption chaos continues

Airline TUI has cancelled more flights to a popular island destination due to a volcanic eruption that has caused mass destruction.

Flights with the airline have been cancelled to La Palma departing up to and including December 1.

The next scheduled flight is December 2, TUI added.

Other flights to Canary Island locations are currently operating, but the situation will be monitored.

The Cumbre Vieja volcano flows have wiped out more than 2,200 acres of land - destroying more than 2,000 buildings.

In a statement, TUI said: "Due to the ongoing situation we’ve unfortunately had to cancel all flights to La Palma departing up to and including December 1 2021. All impacted customers will be contacted directly to discuss their options.

"The next scheduled flight to La Palma is 2 December 2021.

"We’d like to reassure customers due to travel to any other Canary Islands that our flights are currently operating as planned however we will continue to monitor the situation and contact them should their holiday be impacted.

"We’d like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding during this time."
