Tuffins seals a deal that will stretch Nisa relationship over 40 years

One of Nisa’s longest-serving customers has signed a new contract, committing to the specialist convenience wholesaler for a further five years.

Tuffins, a Welsh independent retailer, joined the Scunthorpe-headquartered team back in 1982.

The fourth generation business, launched in 1955, trades across the English and Welsh border, operating a 28,000 sq ft supermarket in Newington as well as forecourts with mini-markets at Builth Wells and Welshpool, a 24-hour new-build operation which opened last year.

Harry Delves, commercial director at the family-owned business, said the decision to continue working with Nisa was an easy one to make.

“We’re very happy with our relationship with Nisa and, with the unrivalled own brand offer now available from the Co-op, we don’t believe there is anything else out there that works for us,” he said.

“The range and variety available to us through Nisa, that blends so well with our local suppliers makes Nisa the right choice for us and we are glad to be committing our future to Nisa.”

Nisa was launched in 1977, providing buying power to rival the emergence of the major multiple retailers. The new deal will take Tuffins up to late 2024.

Head of key accounts at Nisa, Vicky Lockie, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Paul, Harry and Phil have chosen to remain loyal to Nisa and that we will continue working with them and supporting them to help grow their business.

“Tuffins really is a winning formula and it makes me very proud that this fantastic retailing family have committed to a further five years working with Nisa Retail.”
