Scots woman ran over and killed boyfriend with car after furious row over money

A woman ran over and killed her boyfriend in her car after a money row. Grace Ross, 21, hit Joshua Kerr close to the farm where he worked in Leslie, near Glenrothes, Fife on May 22 2020.

The 18-year-old never survived having suffered a catastrophic head injury. Ross - of Fife, who had been due to study politics at Dundee University at the time - today pled guilty to causing Joshua's death by careless driving.

A judge warned her she faces a possible jail-term when she is sentenced next month. Prosecutor Gavin Anderson told the High Court in Glasgow how the couple had been together for three years.

Scots boy, 6, diagnosed with dementia after displaying same symptoms as great uncle

A Scots boy was diagnosed with dementia when he was just six - after displaying similar symptoms to his 80-year-old great uncle who was battling the same disease.

Kayden Traynor, from Edinburgh, was active and healthy when he began suffering from memory loss, seizures and his mobility skills and eyesight began to deteriorate.

Worried mum Valerie Traynor, 34, noticed that his symptoms were similar to those of her 80-year-old uncle George who had been diagnosed with dementia a few years earlier.

Nicola Sturgeon announces Scottish independence referendum will take place on October 19 2023

Nicola Sturgeon has announced a second referendum on Scottish independence will take place on October 19 next year - but only if judges declare it to be legal.

The First Minister told MSPs her party would fight the next general election on the single issue of ending the Union if the UK Supreme Court blocked her plans.

The SNP leader insisted that any vote on independence must be able to withstand a legal challenge and ruled out holding a so-called wildcat referendum.

Queen makes surprise arrival at Edinburgh Waverley as train passengers stunned

Passengers got the surprise of their life when their train was delayed by the arrival of the Queen at Edinburgh Waverley station.

Mick Kenrick, from Coalville in England, was making his way back home from the Scottish capital when he saw the monarch in a chance encounter on Monday. In a photo taken by the tourist, Her Majesty can be seen slowly making her way from her train to a waiting car that appears to have pulled up at the edge of the platform at around 11am.

Scots dad ordered to demolish DIY sunroom or face £50,000 fine despite no neighbour complaints

A Scots couple have been warned they face a whopping £50,000 fine if they fail to demolish their DIY sunroom and garage - despite receiving no complaints from neighbours.

James Bevis and his partner Louise were told they needed planning permission from Midlothian Council for the structure, which they built four years ago.

The 52-year-old dad forked out £3,000 and erected the sunroom himself, as a space for the couple’s teenage daughters to spend time with their pals. But planners from the local authority say the building has been placed too far forward from the front of their home in Mayfield, Dalkeith.
