A 'machete attack' victim attacked in a Glasgow flat shouted 'I love you mum' as paramedics transported him into an ambulance.

Emergency services were called to reports of a man attacked within the block of flats on Royston Road on Monday evening.

A source told the Record three men wearing balaclavas fled the scene in a blue car after the incident unfolded.

It is understood one masked man was bitten by an American Pitbull type dog after trying to access the first floor flat by climbing onto a veranda.

A missing schoolgirl has been found almost 10 miles from her home after her frantic mum "feared the worst".

We told how Abigail Redmond, 12, vanished from her school, St Andrew’s Secondary in Glasgow's East End, at 11.30am on Monday.

The Easterhouse schoolgirl's panic-stricken mum, Lisa Carruthers, called police at around 6pm on Monday, having not seen or heard from Abigail in almost seven hours.

Police on Tuesday morning confirmed a search was underway amid a string of desperate online appeals from locals.

A few hours later, a "relieved" Lisa told the Record that Abigail had been found almost 10 miles from home, in Glasgow's Govanhill.

'Fireball' on M8 as traffic at standstill after car explodes into flames

A Scots motorway was closed after a car dramatically burst into flames earlier on Tuesday.

The hatchback caught fire shortly before 10am on the eastbound carriageway of the M8 between junctions five and six at Shotts.

Emergency services raced to the scene and closed the trunk road - linking Glasgow and Edinburgh - for almost an hour while they tackled the blaze.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the blaze, though the vehicle has been destroyed.

Mhairi Anne Mackie passed away unexpectedly on Easter Monday as her heartbroken family say there was no initial explanation for her sudden death.

The devoted mum, who lived in Bellshill, leaves behind four young children and her husband Ashely.

Alistair Wilson's Nairn doorstep murder could be linked to decking row, police reveal

The doorstep murder of a Scots banker Alistair Wilson could be linked to a row over decking, according to police.

Alistair was shot dead on his doorstep in Nairn, Highlands, at around 7pm on Sunday, November 8, 2004.

Almost two decades on, cops have revealed that the 30-year-old objected to planning permission for a large decking area outside a nearby hotel.

Chiefs at the Havelock Hotel wanted to put decking in their outdoor area opposite 10 Crescent Road, the Wilson family home.
