Matilda and the Ramsay Bunch
4.55pm, CBBC
Tilly Ramsay is less sweary and infinitely more charming than her dad, Gordon, which is just as well as she’s only 13. This new series gives a glimpse of the family’s impossibly glossy life as she shares some of her favourite recipes. They’re summering in Los Angeles, where Tilly will be blogging and cooking, with burgers and smoky fries on the menu. It’s easy to follow for kids, but the real joy is the opportunity for adults to gawp at Gordon skateboarding and the very groomed Tana organising her brood. Hannah Verdier
Ordinary Lies
9pm, BBC1
When the test drive of two expensive motors ends with a brutal beating, it initially looks like a straightforward robbery. But what if someone at JS Motors was involved? The penultimate episode of Danny Brocklehurst’s uneven workplace drama draws a strong performance from Mackenzie Crook as Pete, a hangdog, hypochondriac salesman, whose life away from work is starting to spin out of control. Meanwhile, the relationship between Mike and Beth, whose husband is missing, moves on a step. Jonathan Wright
Britain’s Favourite Foods – Are They Good For You?
9pm, BBC2
The BBC’s food season continues with this investigation into what we eat. Alice Roberts has the lowdown on the food we buy in supermarkets, information she then tries to put in terms we might understand. Such as: we drink enough milk to fill the Thames for a mile and a half! Helpful? Good. There are some revelations – the beverage to hydrate you best after exercise isn’t what you might think. Equally, some bits aren’t remotely surprising. Our favourite vegetable, thrillingly, is the potato. John Robinson
Castle Builders
9pm, Yesterday
Castles are really weird, when you think about it. As this documentary points out, those impassive fortresses of the 11th century and beyond had to function both as beautiful stately homes and ultraviolent strongholds – romance and war in one gigantic stone package. Here we meet the masons (master and free) and draftsmen who built them, carting their base materials over rocky or non-existent roads from faraway quarries and meticulously working out how everything fitted together, in the days before 3D printing. Ali Catterall
Later Live – With Jools Holland
10pm, BBC2
They’re back. They’re calling it their best album ever. And they’ll be showcasing selections on this 46th series of Later. Yes, Blur and their Magic Whip join the honky-tonker tonight – along with Marc Almond, whose appearances during Jools’s big band shows last year proved a highlight of the tour. He’ll be popping in to “say hello”, while indie darlings the Vaccines, Mali’s Songhoy Blues, folk-rocker Laura Marling, singer-songwriter Natalie Prass and jazz-blues quartet Davina and the Vagabonds also feature. My Big Fat Asian Wedding
10pm, Channel 4
Wedding planner Raj Somaiya is an expert at organising lavish ceremonies with big budgets and guest lists that run into the hundreds. This documentary follows his team as they meet extravagant demands in a world where weddings are such big business that booking Blenheim Palace for a party is all in a day’s work. It’s hard graft but the results are spectacular, from a Bollywood blockbuster-style celebration in Leeds to a rave that transforms part of London into an Ibiza-like wonderland. HV
2,000 Tattoos, 40 Piercings and a Pickled Ear
10pm, Channel 5
Keith Gordon seems lovely. But as one of Britain’s most tattooed men, he’s constantly judged on his appearance. It’s the same for Tors, who has a plethora of body modifications but is finding that it’s affecting her love life. Elsewhere, almost more extreme than his tatts, Mathew Whelan changed his name to King of Ink Land King Body Art The Extreme Ink-Ite. It’s easy to lack sympathy for those who bring judgment on themselves, but the prejudice seen here is far uglier. Ben Arnold
