Running The Shop
8pm, Channel 4

In this new series, business maven and former Dragons’ Den star Hilary Devey swoops in on struggling companies, places the management on temporary gardening leave, and invites frontline workers to run the show. She begins with Taskers, a family-owned DIY homestore in Aintree, and her commitment to promoting from within extends to winkling £30,000 out of boss John Tasker to help fund his staff’s entrepreneurial ideas. But can the DIY experts really do it themselves? Graeme Virtue

No Offence
9pm, Channel 4

Hard-as-nails women, smart dialogue and a good dose of dark humour have become this police drama’s calling cards. Tonight’s instalment sees DI Deering (Joanna Scanlan) on a manhunt through Manchester as she gets closer to discovering the identity of the serial killer. Few things are more fearsome than the brassy boss on your criminal tail. Meanwhile Joy (Alexandra Roach) and Spike (Will Mellor) are dealing with a violent attack on a young homeless man, which leads them to uncover a disturbing case of slavery. Hannah Verdier

The Syndicate
9pm, BBC1

Despite six numbers coming in for the staff at Hazelwood Manor, it seems there’s little cause for celebration. The disappearance of Amy adds an especially sour aftertaste, leaving the syndicate struggling to accept allegations that kindly gardener/human spreadsheet Godfrey might have anything to do with it. Upstairs, in a reminder that wealth doesn’t necessarily correlate with happiness, Lord Hazelwood takes a turn for the worse. Not the best timing, with his family conspiring to sell the manor to a moneyed business concern. Mark Jones

An Hour To Save Your Life
9pm, BBC2

Another nerve-shredding hour, this week in the company of the inspirational neonatal unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Three babies are born in grave health. Evelyn has suffered a herniated diaphragm in the womb. The minutes after her birth are crucial to her survival. Meanwhile, Harley’s heart rate has been dropping to dangerously low levels, and Alyssia is being delivered 10 weeks early because of her mother’s history of still birth. Not for the faint-hearted. Ben Arnold

The Enforcers
9pm, ITV

“If you let it frighten you, you wouldn’t do it,” says high court enforcement officer Sue Kettley of her work trying to reclaim debts and evict squatters. Watching Sue and a colleague get trapped in an office while threatening-looking dogs lurk on the other side of a door, you soon see what she means. A fly-on-the-wall doc that captures not just tense scenes but also sad moments, notably when blameless Bangladeshi law students are forced out of a rented flat because their landlord’s property is being repossessed. Jonathan Wright

Birthday
9pm, Sky Arts 1

Male scientists have been strangely sluggish in their efforts to develop male pregnancy; this drama, based on a play by Joe Penhall, imagines that they have succeeded. Stephen Mangan plays Ed, in the family way and awaiting a caesarean on an NHS ward. His wife, top executive Anna Maxwell Martin, is at hand to help him along his journey through the joys, privations and pains of labour, all experienced with typically masculine stoicism. Stay tuned for a new series of The South Bank Show afterwards. David Stubbs

Empire
9pm, E4

This smash-hit musical soap has two characters with mental or neurological problems, a source of drama it turns on and off like a tap. Tasteless, but we’ve signed up for trash so it’s hard to object. Tonight, Lucious’s ALS worsens and he puts an investor showcase in jeopardy – even more than it already is, thanks to Hakeem and Jamal’s reworking of Money For Nothing, featuring hotpanted dancers with boxes on their heads. Can Cookie save the day? Of course, but the fallout is game-changingly messy. Jack Seale
