Anyone planning to travel to central London or Liverpool Street on Wednesday may struggle to get there as a 24-hour strike on the Central line begins tonight.

The walkout begins at midnight on Tuesday, and will last through Wednesday, November 7 affecting hundreds of thousands of people who rely on these services to travel around the capital.

The Central line runs from Epping and Hainault in Essex to North Acton in west London, where the service divides between West Ruislip in north-west London and Ealing Broadway in west London.

TfL has advised people to use alternative routes on Tube, rail and bus services and has warned people to expect many stations will be particularly busy. Around 150 extra buses will be put on.

To avoid delay to your journey, here are the best alternative travel options to reach central London and Liverpool Street.

By Tube

Passengers are advised to use alternative routes on the underground, with many of the lines stopping at stations in central London and Liverpool Street.

Central London is served by the Northern, Piccadilly, Victoria, Jubilee, Bakerloo, Circle, District, Metropolitan, and Hammersmith & City lines.

Both the Bakerloo and Victoria lines stop at Oxford Circus, while the Northern line stops at Tottenham Court Road and the Jubilee line stops at Bond Street.
