Tube strike off: Planned walkout on the Bakerloo line cancelled after 'significant progress' in talks

A planned strike by London Underground workers has been suspended after progress in talks.

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union on parts of the Bakerloo Line had been due to walk out for 24 hours on Sunday in a dispute over staffing levels.

The union said "significant progress" had been made in negotiations.

A walkout on the Bakerloo line was also planned for Boxing Day but was suspended. That and threatened strike action on the Central line in December followed the sacking of a worker who failed a random drugs test, as well as a breakdown in industrial relations.

The RMT said at the time if further "substantial" progress was not made in a number of areas there will be industrial action in the new year.
