Tube stations closed and Central Line suspended amid reports of man wielding knife

Two London Underground tube stations were closed and the Central Line suspended after reports emerged of a man brandishing a knife.

Bank and Liverpool Street tube stations were put on lockdown and trains stopped running as officers searched for the alleged suspect shortly after 5pm, but British Transport Police said officers found “no trace of the man”.

Commuters described it as a "nightmare commute", and reported seeing police with guns "screaming 'move'" on a tube platform.

Sections of the line were suspended for about 30 minutes. Trains are now running with severe delays.
