Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has an itch to play football again.
And he's ready to satisfy it.
"I'd say I'm ready to go," Tagovailoa told USA Today in a story published Thursday as Dolphins rookies and quarterbacks reported to the team's Davie, Fla., facility for coronavirus testing.
"It's kind of those things where you start getting the itch to get back out on the field, to be able to compete. It's going to be a new setting, so that's what's even more exciting."
Tagovailoa told the publication he is healthy heading into camp as he continues to work his way back after suffering a right hip dislocation and posterior wall fracture while playing for Alabama last November.
Tagovailoa hopes to compete for playing time with quarterbacks Ryan Fitzpatrick, who enters his 16th season, and Josh Rosen.
As NFL teams like the Dolphins and their players begin to navigate their training camps with respect to new COVID-19 protocols, Tagovailoa says he has faith in the Dolphins and NFL.
Once Tagovailoa passes his COVID-19 testing, with a second test slated for Monday, he'll be able to begin ramping up his workouts in training camp.
Dolphins veterans are set to report for testing on July 28. All veterans who test negative could begin to enter the facility as early as Aug. 1.
