TTD to construct two new temples at Gujarat and Chattisgarh

TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams - the world's richest Hindu temples trust is gearing up to construct two new replica temples of Lord Venkateswara in the states of Gujarat and Chattisgarh.

Apart from the iconic Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple at Tirumala, the Tirupati trust also administers the affairs of close to five dozen temples across the country.

TTD's new Balaji temple was inaugurated at Majeen in Jammu recently and the Tirupati trust is now constructing another Balaji mandir at Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the TTD trust board meeting held at Tirumala on Monday, Chairman YV Subba Reddy said consultations related to the land allocation were in the final stages with the state governments of Gujarat and Chattisgarh.

"Once the land allocation is completed the TTD will immediately take up the temples construction activity", YV Subba Reddy asserted.

Meanwhile, the Tirupati trust resolved to undertake various development works worth approximately Rs.240 crore.

TTD resolved to construct additional laddu counters at Tirumala by spending Rs.4.15 crore.

The temple trust sanctioned Rs.97 crore to upgrade Sri Venkateswara institute of medical sciences to a 1200-bedded hospital from its current strength of 300 beds.

TTD has sanctioned a sum of Rs.70 crore towards facility and sanitation management services.

The temple trust will spend Rs.3.63 crore towards modernization of nearly 144 rooms and sub-enquiry offices at Tirumala.

The Tirupati trust will spend Rs.4 crore to construct a new Annadanam complex at the Kodandarama Swamy temple at Vontimitta.

TTD will spend Rs.3.10 crore to replace plastic dustbins with stainless steel dustbins at Tirumala.

The Tirupati trust also passed several other important resolutions on Monday.
