TSB down - customers unable to access app or online banking due to widespread outage

Hundreds of TSB customers have been left unable to access their money due to an ongoing online banking outage.

Customers on social media say the bank's app and online banking website are both down - leaving them unable to make payments and manage transactions.

Independent website DownDetector, which tracks social-media posts on how sites are performing, shows hundreds of customers complaining of an outage.

Users are being met with an "unexpected error" while others say they have been left with no way to access their accounts - or make urgent payments - since midday on Tuesday.

Debbie, a social care worker on the minimum wage, told Mirror Money she's been desperately trying to access her accounts all day.

"I still cannot access my accounts," she said.

"I am a social care worker on minimum wage and at this time of the month especially, I need to know exactly how much I have left before payday at the end of the month.

"I am stressed enough, without this extra worry. I need food, gas and electricity but it's very scary not knowing my current balance.

"What on earth is going on with TSB and why does this keep happening?"

On twitter, one user wrote: "HI @TSB is you online banking app down? I can’t log on & it's kinda urgent."

Another said: "@TSB been trying to login since morning and the app is still down! This shouldn't happen. It's unacceptable we're unable to access our funds when needed. Get it sorted."

It is unclear how many customers have been affected by the problem.

However, on social media, those affected are being advised to log out and in again.

A TSB spokesperson said: "We're aware some customers are currently experiencing problems across our mobile app and Internet Banking. We're working to solve this as soon as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused."

In line with Government orders, some TSB outlets are still open to the public - however most branches close at 5pm.

Cashpoints are operating as normal - however telephone customers could face a lengthy wait to access its customer services due to the outage.

The glitch follows the lender’s IT migration in April 2018 - which locked more than 1.9million people out of their accounts.

In total, the disastrous meltdown resulted in £330.2million of costs, linked to customer compensation, additional resources and fraud.
