Truth behind the rumoured Sefton Park firework display on Bonfire Night

Following the huge fireworks display above the Liverpool waterfront last night, many are left wondering if there will be another, this time in Sefton Park.

The south Liverpool park was the place to be on Bonfire Nights gone by, so it's no surprise fans think of it at this time of year.

There have been questions flying about all week about whether the park will play host to a display this year.

Sefton Park Palm House and Liverpool City Council have now both confirmed there are no official fireworks displays at Sefton Park.

Liverpool City Council confirmed it had not been approached by any organisations or groups to stage fireworks in the park.

The Palm House took to Twitter to confirm it would not be hosting an event, the statement read: “We are getting a lot of emails asking if there are going to be fireworks in Sefton Park this year.

“There are not, everything is in town. The fireworks were last night but there are still some light installations to enjoy. Hope you all have a fun and safe bonfire night tomorrow."

The official firework display for Liverpool and Wirral took place on the waterfront yesterday as part of the River of Light festival.

River of Light continues in the city centre with 10 illuminating light installations until November 9.

There are no official firework displays scheduled to take place at Sefton Park on Bonfire Night (November 5).
