'Trust his judgement' - Notts County fans have their say on surprise team to face Barnet

Notts County fans have backed boss Neal Ardley after he named a surprising starting XI to face Barnet in the National League semi-finals.

The Magpies boss left out winger Enzio Boldewijn and defender Connell Rawlinson who were both on the substitutes' bench for the clash against the Bees.

Defender Ben Turner came in to replace Rawlinson and he will play alongside the impressive Alex Lacey.

While plenty of fans were surprised by the news, the majority appear to have faith in Ardley, who has had a major hand in turning the club around after relegation.

Here's a look at what fans are saying on Twitter.

In midfield, O'Brien has come in for Boldewijn and is likely to play on the left-hand side, but in a much more narrow position rather than an out and out winger.

Apart from those two selection surprises, given both players have had fine individual seasons, the team had a familiar look.

Sam Slocombe was back in goal after a lengthy spell on the sidelines through a groin injury and he was part of a back five consisting of Richard Brindley, Lacey, Turner and on-loan Cardiff defender Joel Bagan.

In midfield Callum Roberts occupied the right-hand side with captain Michael Doyle partnering Mitch Rose in midfield.

O'Brien is on the left. Up front, Kristian Dennis got the nod to partner Kyle Wootton with Wes Thomas starting the game on the bench.

Scott Wilson, Zoumana Bakayogo and Sam Osborne did not make the squad.
