Trump’s push to overturn E. Jean Carroll verdict is rejected by Supreme Court

  • Trump had been attempting for years to get the 2022 verdict dismissed after he was found liable for sexually abusing Carroll, a former Elle magazine writer.
  • In addition to the sexual abuse finding, Trump was also found liable for defaming Carroll in a separate case, having consistently denied her allegations and accused her of lying.
  • Lawyers for Trump argued that the $5 million verdict was unfairly brought and intended to harm him, despite the verdict predating his return to the White House.
  • The court did not provide an explanation for its decision not to take up the case, which is typical for such orders.
