During a recent press conference, President Donald Trump expressed his belief that Russia should be willing to negotiate a deal with Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin promptly to address the ongoing conflict in the region.
Trump stated, 'I think Russia should want to make a deal. Maybe they want to make a deal. I think from what I hear, Putin would like to see me. We’ll meet as soon as we can. I’d meet immediately. Every day we don’t meet soldiers are being killed in a battlefield.'

When questioned about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's willingness to engage in negotiations, Trump acknowledged the significant loss of soldiers on both sides. He noted that Ukraine has suffered casualties but also pointed out that Russia has incurred greater losses.
Earlier this week, Trump took to social media platform Truth Social to announce his intention to impose high tariffs and additional sanctions on Russia if Putin does not take steps to end the conflict in Ukraine.
