Prosecutors and Donald Trump's attorneys are currently in the process of reviewing the latest group of 18 potential jurors in the ongoing legal proceedings. Both sides have been granted 10 peremptory strikes each, which allow them to dismiss jurors without providing a reason. On Tuesday, Trump and the prosecutors utilized six of their strikes, leaving them with four strikes each for the remaining jurors.
In addition to peremptory strikes, both parties have the option to request the judge to dismiss jurors for cause, which would not require the use of a strike. A new panel of nearly 100 prospective jurors is now entering the courtroom for consideration.
Judge Juan Merchan has indicated that the group of 96 jurors will be sworn in before being released for the day. They are expected to return the following day around 11 or 11:30 a.m. ET for further questioning. Typically, court proceedings commence at 9:30 a.m. ET, but the delayed start time for this panel is due to the need to complete the review of prospective jurors from the previous panel, which is likely to be concluded on Friday morning.
