Trump to visit Camp David after spending month at White House

WASHINGTON _ President Donald Trump will travel to Camp David on Friday, his first time leaving the White House compound in more than a month.

The trip, announced in the president's daily schedule released Thursday night, comes as Trump prepares to resume travel as part of his strategy to reopen the country from shutdown measures designed to contain the coronavirus.

Trump two weeks ago announced guidelines for states to reopen businesses and daily life in phases. Trump's "30 Days to Slow the Spread" strategy will expire at midnight on Thursday.

It's not clear how long he'll stay at Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland. He last left the White House on March 28, when he traveled to Virginia to see off a Navy medical ship sailing to New York. It has since left the city as its virus case-load leveled off.

Trump is also planning to travel to Arizona next week, a crucial swing state where he plans to visit a Honeywell International Inc. plant making medical supplies to fight the pandemic.
