- In a Truth Social post, President Trump addressed the objectives of the Iran war and stated the US is “getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East with respect to the Terrorist Regime of Iran.”
- The objectives included “degrading Iranian Missile Capability,” “Destroying Iran’s Defense Industrial Base,” “Eliminating [Iran’s] Navy and Air Force,” “Never allowing Iran to get even close to Nuclear Capability,” and “Protecting, at the highest level, our Middle Eastern Allies, including Israel.”
- Although Trump states that the U.S. is close to meeting the objectives of the war, the Pentagon has reportedly requested over $200 billion in additional funding from the White House for the ongoing military campaign in Iran.
- Trump is reportedly considering plans to occupy or blockade Iran’s Kharg Island to pressure Iran into reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
- The initial six days of the conflict were estimated to have cost more than $11.3 billion, with extensive military actions including over 7,800 targets struck.
