Singer Adam Lambert has said that the media and general public need to starve Donald Trump of attention now that his presidency is over.
Joe Biden is being sworn in today as the 46th president of the US, with the recently impeached President Trump leaving behind four years blighted by controversy.
Speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, Lambert said: “Obviously we can’t fully ignore him given what happened at the Capitol.
“I just hope that the public and the media don’t give him nearly as much attention as he’s been whoring about.”
The former American Idol winner, who is known for his performances with Queen, was then asked about Biden’s own public persona, including the nickname “Sleepy Joe” which Trump affixed to him.
“Obviously public speaking is a big part of being president of the United States, no one’s going to argue that. But in addition, I think it’s also about listening to people, it’s about putting together the right cabinet who can get the job done,” said Lambert.
He added: “How many people did Trump fire in four years? It was a disaster from day one. Not just this last year, since Covid.”
Other celebrities have also spoken out in celebration of Trump’s departure from the White House, including Mark Ruffalo and documentary filmmaker Michael Moore.
