- President Donald Trump says a US blockade of Iranian ports will continue despite Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
- “The Strait of Hormuz is completely open and ready for business and full passage,” Trump wrote Friday shortly after Iran announced the strait had been reopened.
- “But the naval blockade will remain in full force and effect as it pertains to Iran, only, until such a time as our transaction with Iran is 100% complete,” Trump continued. “This process should go very quickly in that most of the points are already negotiated.”
- Trump previously said that a second round of in-person talks with Iran could happen as soon as this weekend.
- Before the promising developments, Israel was reported to have committed several violations of a ceasefire in Lebanon, hours after Trump hailed the “historic” truce.
