Trump says ICE needs to resume traffic stops despite two deadly shootings

  • Trump emphasized that ICE is doing a "GREAT job" and that traffic stops are an essential "Crime Fighting tool" for removing criminals.
  • This stance contradicts a previous directive from Trump administration officials to ICE to suspend most vehicle stops following two fatal shootings within a week.
  • The suspension was ordered after an ICE officer fatally shot a Colombian driver in Maine and another officer killed a motorist in Houston.
  • A third man also died in Florida after being struck by a tractor-trailer while attempting to flee immigration and other federal officers.
