- U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to cut off all trade with Spain after it blocked the U.S. from using jointly operated bases in Rota and Moron in the war against Iran.
- Spain called the U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran an “unjustified and dangerous military intervention,” and Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares said Spain would not allow its bases to be used for an operation that was not covered by its agreement with the U.S. nor in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.
- That led the U.S. to relocate 15 aircraft, including refueling tankers, from the Rota and Moron military bases in southern Spain.
- "Spain has been terrible," Trump said at the White House Tuesday after a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. “We’re going to cut off all trade with Spain. We don't want anything to do with Spain,” Trump added.
- Trump also reiterated his criticism of the UK for not immediately allowing the US to use bases with access to Iran. While sitting next to Chancellor Merz, he said Germany has been “great” on Iran.
