- President Donald Trump has said that a new round of peace talks with Tehran could happen soon, replying, "It's possible!" when questioned about reports from Pakistani sources.
- His remark was in response to the New York Post’s report that a second round of peace talks could begin within the next “36 to 72 hours”.
- It comes as Iranian official Mojtaba Ferdousi Pour, head of the Iranian mission in Egypt, has said that Tehran will not engage in negotiations under duress and demanded the Trump lift the US blockade on Iran's ports as a precondition for any discussions.
- The ceasefire remains shaky as Iran's Revolutionary Guards announced the seizure of two vessels, the MSC Francesca and the Epaminodes, Wednesday, claiming they were detained for "operating without the required authorization and for manipulating navigation systems."
- In addition the seizures, three container ships were hit by Iranian gunfire in the Strait of Hormuz. The attacks have significantly strained the fragile ceasefire that was extended by Trump Tuesday.
