Donald Trump's Madame Tussauds waxwork received a timely makeover this week, as the effigy of the US President swapped its trademark baggy suit and red tie for something a bit more suitable for a life of leisure: golfing attire.
And not just any old golfing attire, either. The incredibly jazzy purple, yellow and green tartan trews are the handiwork of Edinburgh-based company Royal & Awesome. The quirky golf clothing shop have been chosen as the ex-president’s apparel of choice in his future retirement.
The technicolour dream trousers are certainly eye-catching. They look like something you might expect to see on the catwalk - or possibly something that RuPaul would wear on a trip to Scotland.
Madame Tussauds announced the bold new look on their social media channels, saying:
"His campaign may not have been a hole in one, but @realDonaldTrump is now on course to dedicate more of his time to his favourite sport as #MadameTussaudsLondon re-dresses his figure in golfing attire to reflect his potential 2021 wardrobe."
A statement sent on behalf of Royal and Awesome reads: "Having spent the day golfing when Biden’s victory was announced, it seems he’s started to enjoy his retirement early. Perhaps with plenty of spare time on his hands come late January, Trump and his funky Royal & Awesome trousers will be spotted more frequently at his courses in Turnberry and Aberdeenshire."
Donald Trump has so far refused to admit he has lost the election to Joe Biden and accept defeat, instead choosing to make unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud, and lodging lawsuits to contest the result. Biden is moving forward with transition plans and has pledged the most diverse cabinet in history.
However, one thing is for sure - in these uncertain times - and that is the fact that his Tussauds waxwork is now serving up unbridled golf eleganza realness.
